DAWN UPSHAW, soprano
Only New York Recital
"In today's commercialized musical world. Upshaw is a voice apart. She's one of
music's most celebrated sopranos, but with her calm radiance, you wouldn't think of
her as a diva… Though she sings at the world's great opera houses, she has a passion for bringing
surprising, and fascinating, music to the public…"

ALISON BALSOM, trumpet
NEW YORK DEBUT
Only New York Appearance
“Are you ready for some trumpet playing? Very few trumpeters can
fashion a career as a soloist, but Alison Balsom, a young Englishwoman, is doing so…
The trumpet is a wonderful—wonderfully musical—instrument, in all periods: from the
Baroque (certainly) to jazz. We should hear it more often, particularly in solo form…”
—Jay Nordlinger, The New York Sun
Alison Balsom is one of Grammophone Magazine's
hot picks for tomorrow's classical music superstars. She will perform works by Bach, Handel, Purcell, deFalla, and Piazolla — Great music for Mother's Day!
